Alvar Suñol Exhibits Biblical Works at Masters Gallery, July 2017

Masters Gallery in Denver, Colorado featured Alvar Suñol in a solo exhibition showcasing the Spanish artist’s biblical works. Alvar was in attendance for the July 21st and 22nd opening receptions.

Throughout his career Alvar has constructed in his art a world that transcends place and time. Seamlessly weaving together a myriad of influences and visuals, Alvar depicts scenes ranging from the influences of modern technology to muses gallantly inspiring creation. Each artwork provides insight into themes important to Alvar, and among the most enlightening are his religious scenes of the Hebrew and Christian testaments. In these Alvar provides iconic interpretations of scripture while subtly honoring the people and places that impart the most influence on him as an artist.

Alvar was born in 1935 in Montgat, a Catalan fishing village on the Mediterranean coast near Barcelona. At the age of 17 he was accepted into the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes de San Jorge in Barcelona, and in 1960, he moved to Paris and exhibited with other major Spanish artists including Picasso, Miro and Dali. Alvar strengthens his artistic vision through the use of various media including oil, lithographs, watercolors, drawings, bronzes, and ceramic sculpture. Today, Alvar is recognized on an international platform for his ability to convey the complex nature of human existence and the psychological complexities of art-making and creation.
