Canyon Fine Art in Santa Fe, New Mexico featured Miguel Peidro in "Paisaje y Poder", a solo exhibition showcasing the Spanish artist's realist landscapes. Peidro was in attendance for the July 28th opening reception.
The exhibition explored the ways in which Peidro employs the use of color, light, and form to create landscapes which evoke a sense of familiarity. His frequent choice of a panoramic format accentuates the landscape and invites the viewer to partake in the artist’s vision. Light and reflection are especially important in Peidro's landscapes, as the water not only reflects the light but expresses the vitality of the natural world that Peidro admires. These rhythmic compositions become thematic representations of natural beauty.
Miguel Peidro was born in 1950 in Alcoy, Alicante, Spain. He received artistic training at a private studio alongside renowned Spanish painters such as Vincente Moya, Alex Alemany, and Juan Ferri. Immersed in the influence of such talent, Peidro excelled during the 5-year apprenticeship. His admiration for both painting and nature translates eloquently onto canvas by delicate brushstrokes and thick layers of paint. Reflecting on his inspiration, Peidro explains, "My passion for both painting and nature are mixed within myself. This is the reason I paint landscapes. I find much inspiration in taking nature walks during my travels throughout Europe. I’m not interested in current art trends, I just paint what I like." Upon viewing Peidro’s paintings, one cannot help but get caught in the quiet and meditative portrayals of nature.
